Yoonu Jàngale charter for Oustaz and Imams
This text applies to the Yoonu Jàngale app, intended for Guides and Teachers (Oustaz and Imams) and downloaded from the yoonujamm.app website. The Yoonu Jamm app, for worshippers' daily practice, has its own texts (www.atayalabs.sn/yoonujamm/terms).
This charter is for the Oustaz and Imams listed in the directory of the Yoonu Jàngale app. It sets out what is published, what remains in your hands and what each party undertakes to do. You accept it in your Oustaz space, before your profile becomes visible.
In short
- Your first name, last name, photo, phone number and exact declared location are published in the app, for all its users, only if you accept.
- You can hide your number and be contacted by message only, and refuse to be found by your number.
- You accept or decline each conversation, and you can block and report.
- You may have your identity verified to get the green "Verified account" star. Verification is entrusted to a religious referee, Imam Modou Kara SENE, who collects your identity documents and meets you. An Oustaz never verifies the identity of another Guide, nor that of an Imam. It is optional.
- Your roles are assigned by the team; the team does not guarantee teachings.
- From 3 reviews, your rating in hearts is published; you read the messages of low ratings without names and reply once.
- You can leave the directory or delete your account at any time.
1. Who can be listed in the directory
- You register in the app, by choosing Oustaz or Imam on the directory's first screen, or the Yoonu Jàngale team creates your profile and gives you a username.
- Before publication, your profile is reviewed and validated by the team. Verifying your identity is optional (article 2).
- You must be an adult, that is, 18 or older. Your adulthood is read on your identity document if you have it verified, noted by the team during an in-person check, or declared by you.
- The team may ask for a recommendation from a mosque or an Oustaz already listed; for an Imam, confirmation from their mosque.
- The team may refuse a registration. A refusal of the identity verification always states its reason (article 2).
2. Identity verification and the "Verified account" star
Verifying your identity is optional: your profile is published without it, with no mention at all. Once your identity is verified, your profile carries the green "Verified account" star. At equal distance and rating, it comes before those without it. The team may later decide to make verification mandatory for new registrations: a new version of this charter would tell you.
Verification of Guides and Teachers. Yoonu Jàngale cannot guarantee the identity of every Oustaz or Imam. An Oustaz never verifies the identity of another Guide, nor that of an Imam.
Verification is entrusted to a religious referee, Imam Modou Kara SENE, who accepts this task as a volunteer. He collects your identity documents and meets you, at his mosque or at another place agreed together.
After this meeting, your profile carries the green "Verified account" star. Verification remains optional: it confirms an identity, not a teaching. You first write to Imam Modou Kara SENE with the WhatsApp button in your space, "Get the star". After his agreement, the team puts the star on your profile.
With your papers, in the app, when the team opens this route. You do it in your Oustaz space, "Get the star", after giving your agreement.
- What is requested: your Senegalese ECOWAS identity card (front and back) or the main page of your passport; three photos of your face, in the order requested; a criminal record extract (bulletin n° 3) less than 3 months old; a proof of address less than 3 months old, in your name (certificate of residence, water, electricity or mobile phone bill).
- How: the lines of characters on your document are read automatically on our server. A member of the team then compares your face with the photo on your document, by eye, and checks your papers. No automatic face recognition is used, and no other service receives your documents.
- Erasure: your documents are encrypted, then erased right after approval, 7 days after a refusal, and no later than 30 days after you send them. The criminal record extract is erased as soon as a decision is made. Only the result is kept, for as long as your profile exists. You can stop at any time: your documents are then erased at once.
- Star: once your identity is verified, your profile carries the "Verified account" star. It says that your identity has been checked, and nothing about your teachings.
- Refusal: a refusal states its reason (document unreadable, expired or not accepted, different identity or face, photos not compliant, criminal record extract or proof of address not compliant, doubt about authenticity). The team may also ask you to redo only part of it. You can start again, or challenge the decision by writing to [email protected].
- Profile photo: your front photo becomes your profile photo only if you agree, separately.
- If you have no smartphone, the team can verify your identity in person, by seeing your document, without keeping a copy.
End of sponsorship. Since 21 October 2026, no Oustaz or Imam confirms the identity of another any more. Stars already obtained through two confirmations stay on the profiles; the team may review them. Past confirmations (who confirmed whom, and when) stay in the team's log and are never published.
3. Your roles
Roles are assigned by the team when your profile is validated, and cannot be chosen from the app: Oustaz, Imam (attached to a mosque), or both. Each role carries its badge on the map and in your profile, and is used by the search filter. To change them, write to the team.
4. What is published, with your express consent
By accepting this charter, you expressly consent to the following information being shown to all users of the directory, that is, to a wide audience:
- your first name and last name;
- your photo;
- your phone number, in clear, unless you hide it;
- your declared location, at the exact point you chose, on the map and in your profile, like a mosque;
- for an Imam, their mosque (name and address);
- your roles, languages, specialities, introduction, availability and town;
- the "Verified account" star once your identity is verified; without it, no mention. Your verification documents and the names of the Oustaz who confirmed you are never published;
- for an Oustaz, from 3 reviews, your rating in hearts (1 to 5) and the number of reviews. Only people whose message request you accepted can rate you, one week later. You never see who. The rating changes on Mondays and cannot be hidden. The "Golden Heart" badge shows if your rating is 4.8 or more from at least 20 reviews, after 3 months in the directory. You must also have no 1, 2 or 3 heart message left without a reply for 90 days. It puts your profile first among the Oustaz nearby. You can hide it.
This information reveals your religious commitment. You know this and accept it with full knowledge.
Your consent is given by you in the app, by ticking the box accepting this charter. If you have no smartphone, the team reads you the whole charter and records your oral consent, with a note. In both cases, the date, the charter version and how the consent was given are recorded. Without this consent, your profile stays invisible, even once validated.
5. Your phone number
- By default, your number is shown in your profile and in the window that opens when someone taps your point on the map, with a button to call you.
- In "My options", "Show my number" lets you hide it: you are then contacted only by message, in the app.
- "Find me by my number" lets you refuse to be found by someone entering your full number.
- Your number never appears in lists or on the map: it is only given profile by profile, and limits protect the directory against bulk collection. We cannot prevent a person from noting a number shown; the terms of use forbid collecting or spreading it.
6. Your location
- You declare your location yourself, in "My position": by tapping "My current position", which reads the phone's location only once, or by placing the point on the map. For an Imam, the location of their mosque can be used.
- The point published is rounded to about 250 metres: the faithful find you in your neighbourhood, never at your door. If you receive people at a public address, such as a mosque or a school, you can choose "Exact location": the point published is then the one you chose.
- "My location follows my phone" is on by default, after a message in the app that says so, and you can turn it off at any time. The location is then updated when you open the app and at most every 5 minutes while it is open. Only the rounded location leaves your phone.
- You can change it at any time. Choose a place where you are willing to be found, for example your mosque or the place where you teach rather than your home.
7. Your exchanges with users
- A user can only send you one message until you accept their request. You freely accept or decline each request; a refusal or a block is never shown to them.
- You can block or report a user, including on a request you have not accepted.
- Users of the directory are 16 or older. You undertake to remain courteous, never to harass, threaten or solicit anyone, never to ask anyone for intimate information or photos. You also undertake to respect the law, in particular the protection of minors.
- The rules of conduct of the terms of use (www.atayalabs.sn/yoonujangale/terms) also apply to you.
8. What you undertake to publish
- Accurate and up-to-date information about your identity, roles, languages and specialities.
- A photo that represents you, with no other identifiable person.
- An introduction with no links, no additional number and no unlawful content.
When you change your first name, last name or number from the app, the change applies at once and the team is notified so that it can check it, by phone if needed.
9. Qualifications and teachings
If you have it verified, the religious referee sees your identity documents and meets you, or the team checks your identity against your identity document and your adulthood; the team reviews your profile and your recommendation. It neither checks nor guarantees your qualifications, and does not control the content of your teachings. Your teachings, answers and opinions are yours alone. The app says so on each profile: "Profiles reviewed by the Yoonu Jàngale team, with no guarantee on the teachings. The green star marks a verified identity."
10. Moderation
- Users can report your profile or a conversation. The team reviews each report promptly.
- No suspension of your profile is automatic: it is always a decision of the team. In the event of repeated reports, the message or conversation targeted may be hidden pending that review.
- The team may suspend or withdraw a profile that does not comply with this charter, in case of doubt about identity, or to protect people. You may challenge a decision by writing to [email protected].
- With 1, 2 or 3 hearts, the person writes why. You read this message in your space, a few days later, without their name or number. You can reply once, respectfully; only that person reads your reply. You can report an abusive review: it is hidden until the team decides.
- It is forbidden to pay for a review, to offer a gift in exchange, to put pressure on someone, to make it a condition of a lesson or to create fake accounts. Asking politely remains allowed. Reviews that seem fake may be removed. A review alone never leads to the suspension of your profile.
11. Withdrawal and deletion
- Leave the directory, in "My options", withdraws your consent to publication. Your profile and photo stop being shown at once. Your data is kept so that you can come back: you will only need to accept the charter again.
- Delete my account, in "My options", with a double confirmation, withdraws your profile at once and erases it 7 days later, photo included. Your conversations remain readable by the people you exchanged with, without your name, until they are erased under the privacy policy.
- After a withdrawal or a deletion, a copy of your profile may remain for up to 7 days on the phone of a user who opened it, as long as they do not reconnect. Your photo may remain for up to 24 hours in a cache.
- Export my data, in "My options", gives you a file with your profile, consents, location, conversations and messages, blocks and reports. It also contains the reviews you received (rating, messages with the month only, your replies) and identity verification files (statuses, dates, decision and result, without the documents).
Details of how your data is processed are in the privacy policy (www.atayalabs.sn/yoonujangale/privacy).
12. Future conditions
Your presence in the directory is governed by this version of the charter. Should the publisher propose other conditions for being listed in the directory in the future, they would be set out in a new version of the charter, presented in the app and subject to your consent. You would remain free to refuse it and to leave the directory.
13. Versions, governing law and contact
- This charter carries a version number. Any new version is presented to you in your Oustaz space and must be accepted to keep using it. Version 2 adds the identity verification before publication (article 2). Version 3 adds reviews of Oustaz (articles 4 and 10). Version 4 makes verification optional and adds the "Verified account" star and sponsorship (articles 1, 2 and 4). The revision of 21 October 2026 entrusts verification to the religious referee and ends sponsorship (articles 1, 2 and 9). A profile already published stays visible while you accept the new version.
- It is published by Ataya Labs, a company under Senegalese law being incorporated, represented by its founder, Nicolas Geslain. It is governed by French law, without depriving you of the protection granted by the law of your country of residence.
